Day of Recognition for Families of Veterans - South Australia

Summary

The Day of Recognition for Families of Veterans honours the contribution, resilience, and personal sacrifice of current and former ADF families. It acknowledges the challenges they share, including long absences frequent relocations, and supporting loved ones through the physical and psychological impacts of service.

Defence Kidz were instrumental with their advocacy for this day to be formally recognised, with support from the South Australian government. DFA and Defence Kidz continue the advocacy to encourage other states to adopt this day of recognition for national consistency, and acknowledgement that our families deserve.

Outcome

Championed by Defence Kidz, South Australia was the first state to formally recognise the importance that families play in the capability of Defence.
